About This Campaign
At Empower and Link, we don't just see "cases"—we see mothers, children, and families facing the unthinkable. While traditional systems are bogged down by months of processing and rigid eligibility rules, these families are living in the "right now."
This is what our phones look like today:
The Families Waiting for a Lifeline
A Mother Separated by Borders: After her husband was deported following a car ccident, this mom was left working two jobs with a 10-year-old and a newborn the father has never even held. She cannot get a passport for the baby because of bureaucratic signature requirements. She needs $2,000 to cover her final month’s rent and to fly her brother in to help her drive to family in Texas for support.
Safety Before the Delivery Room: A pregnant mother with a 16-month-old is due to deliver in just two weeks. Her only transportation is a gifted vehicle that is currently unsafe to drive. She plans to drive herself to the hospital, but the car needs $900 in urgent repairs—wheel bearings, tires, and an alternator—to ensure she can make it to the hospital to deliver her baby safely because bio-dad is not involved.
Focusing on a Final Fight: A young family with a toddler and a newborn just received the devastating news that Dad has terminal brain cancer. They must travel out of state for his treatments, incurring massive costs for hotels, gas, and food. We want to provide enough support to cover their home expenses for two months so she can focus on her husband and children instead of the fear of becoming homeless.
The Veteran Seeking a Second Chance: After serving his country, he made a mistake and served his time for a non-violent offense. Now off probation, he is homeless and cannot find a job. To much of society, he is a "liability," but to us, he is a man who has paid his debt and deserves the opportunity to prove he can be better. We are raising funds to help him secure stable housing and the basic tools he needs to re-enter the workforce with dignity.
These are the calls we receive daily. These situations don't always fit into the neat boxes required by government grants or large-scale charities. Those providers often have their "hands tied" by red tape, leaving these families to fall through the cracks.
Empower and Link exists to fill those gaps. We believe in a person's inherent worth and their right to dignity at the lowest points of their lives. We lead with empathy first, ensuring that "the rules" don't stand in the way of human survival. We rely heavily on donors who look past the labels—"homeless," "felon," "unemployed"—and see a human being with inherent worth. Your generosity allows us to act fast, lead with empathy, and provide the specific, direct assistance that keeps a crisis from becoming a catastrophe.
We are looking to raise $5,000 this month to cover these specific families and to ensure our "Emergency Gap Fund" is ready for the daily calls we know are coming.
Real People. Real Crisis. Real Impact. Please give what you can, or help us by sharing this post.
Our Story
A crisis doesn't require hundreds of people to care. When a small group gives intentionally, stability becomes possible!"
